Have the wedding YOU want! I am a newly-wed and during the planning stages of my wedding I found there are a few ways to have the wedding YOU want. The first choice is, spending money and have a "professional" do it for you. You'll get what you want...convenience. You'll also get things you don't want...an empty bank account or paying back a loan! The second choice is, having it done by me. Yes, you will be spending money, but you will be able to save yourself more money by letting me help. I speak from experience on this! I know I saved money by doing it myself, plus I received what I wanted. I made the flowergirl basket, after I noticed one like it in a fancy bridal shop, the price tag on their flowergirl basket was $40, and for less than $20 I got results that looked like I had bought the one in the fancy bridal shop. After checking out the prices for bridesmaids bouquets at a local craft store, and finding out they would cost over $35 each, I decided to make the bouquets for my five bridesmaids myself. The end result, I had five bouquets that cost less than $20 per bouquet. Then I checked into bridesmaids dresses, it's hard to find a bridesmaids dress under $75, and why make your bridesmaids buy a dress that they will NEVER wear again? I decided to make the dresses for my bridesmaids. All I needed was the material (a plum crepe), the patterns, and zippers.
The result was a dress that is beautiful, can be worn again, and each dress was less than $40 to make! I also made my garter for less than what a garter would cost in a fancy bridal shop. I found that Unity candles and tapers were rather expensive ($50 and up) and so I opted to buy plain white taper candles, and a plain white pillar candle, and added decorations. I would strongly encourage those who will be getting married to check into having me help! You will get what you want, and save money!
